Welcome to the 2nd Annual Brizzy Awards, where the categories are made up, and the points don't matter! This is where I highlight some of my favorite things from the year in gaming, so settle in and let's see if your tastes are as good as mine!

Having missed much of the scheduled beta sessions for dumb reasons like "family", "vacations to Disney World", and "parental responsibilities", I finally got to play the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. this weekend. With about 5 hours under my belt, I managed to explore a little, finish a handful of quests, and team up with a stranger so I feel like I've experienced enough of the game to give some initial impressions.

Boy oh girl, do I love that SHINING series! I JUST spent a sizable load of my hard earned cash on a mere disc that convinces my GameCube to load an emulator that will play my Game Boy games on the console! I have been WANTING that disc for a couple of years now but the price was climbing HIGHER and HIGHER! No one wants to pay $70, $80, dare I say $NINETY for a single little disc that isn’t even a game. I had to finally grab it though and I needed a game to test it all out on so…

I was tagged by the great Musty Hobbit of the Second Breakfast channel to share my 5 highest valued NES games. Thought I'd have some fun in the spirit of Halloween!

Jake continues collecting for the Switch with a few more pickups in the month of September. With the momentum going he's able to snag a few RPG's in the mix and promises he'll get to them some day.

I have been holding off playing my Sega Master System ever since I changed out my CRT’s for PVM’s because I needed to get RGB cables to hook the console up to those fresh, sexy professional video monitors. Unfortunately, for a few months, my RGB cable/amphetamine dealer did not have those particular cables in stock. But finally, after what seemed like YEARS, I went to check  and the Master System cables were in stock so I tossed those in my cart with some uppers to boot and was ready to get my party started. The cables arrived just yesterday and I needed a game to play and test the system out on so I could see just how sexily wonderful the PVM’s made the Master System look.

Excited to receive Holy Diver (NES) from Castlemaniagames.com, Trav gets inside to see what all comes with the collector's edition and pops it in for a quick play.

I always thought this game was a weird tie-in to a TNT action drama that would be extremely under budgeted, janky as hell, and not really necessary. I wasn’t wrong, but I must say… it’s not that bad. My curiosity was piqued when scrolling through a list of N64 games, I saw this one listed under the fighting game genre. Fighting game? I didn’t know this was a fighting game. I had imagined an action-adventure Ocarina of Time wannabe where a polygonal Lucy Lawless runs around a forest stabbing rabbid goblins with her giant sword.

I also never actually watched the show.

A little too much caffeine today and a little too much N64 last night has me here typing about a game no one cares about before a few meetings at work. Let me tell you about California Speed, the N64 game. I don’t doubt that California Speed doubles as the name of a batch of fentanyl laced heroine but honestly it’s just a racing game for Nintendo’s most overlooked console. Just kidding, the WiiU exists.
