Having lived through it once again, I have to say that my mockery of 1999 music in the time following post-modernism’s penultimate year was misplaced in some ways and accurate in others.

Today we take an obligatory jaunt down to serious town and remember two major events of 1999. One set the stage for a looping cycle of horrors that we still find ourselves stuck with and another involves the fate a little boy who had no control over his future and was the subject political round of tug-of-war.

You make fun of it now but Y2K was believed to be a very serious issue. How dare you! Planes falling from the sky, traffic lights not working, nuclear reactors shutting down, banks resetting all our money to 0, and zombies everywhere! Are those things you just take lightly, you monster!?
